Ritual Pictures threw a huge party for the completion of, The Light of Daigh Trailers. With the trailers ready to go, Ritual Pictures will now be seeking funding for the feature film. To celebrate this huge step forward, Ritual Pictures acquired AREA 51 Nightclub in Salt Lake City, Utah with the help of Debora Jennings and club owner Allen Moss. The club put together some amazing drink specials "The Light of Daigh" Specials to help get the party started.

From 8-9pm, the cast, crew, and their families were invited to see the trailers' premier. In attendance were stars Savannah Ostler, Danny Thompson, and Alivia Leonelli, Executive Producer Russ Adams, Directors of Photography Rhett & Burke Lewis, Visual Effects Director James Cawley, Production Supervisor Jenny Allen, Utah Film Commission Director Marshall Moore, and many many more.

After the premier and a short Q&A, the club opened to some 800-1000 invitees who joined the party. The party went late into the night, and was a truly fantastic way to mark nearly a years worth of work.

"Ritual Pictures has been working on the project since January 2009, and its a great feeling to have completely such a major hurtle. " Writer/Director Russ Adams.

There has been a ton of news to report since our last post; unfortunately it’s because of that news we have been too busy to report the information. It’s a vicious cycle.

We shot the trailer for The Light of Daigh on Oct 3rd. The shoot was a huge success. We had a cast of 5 actors playing the roles of Daigh, (Savannah Ostler), Liza (Alivia Leonelli), Liza’s Father (Danny James), Liza’s Mother (Bronwyn Hadlock), Grandfather (Richard Purdy), and Zombie Extra (Debora Jennings).  It was our first time working with most of the cast. Richard Purdy played a small but forcible role in OISIN and returned to play Liza’s Grandpa—a zombie who was now trying to kill her.

We spent nearly fifteen hours working in cold, and cramped conditions to produce this quality piece. The entire cast did an amazing job. Between the chilling zombie performances, the heart breaking separation of family, and the brutal finale of the script, the piece truly showcased the themes and heart of this unique zombie film.

A crew of 30 arrived to support the project. Every one of them was a volunteer working for a shot at a job on the feature shoot. Everyone did a fantastic job to make this short piece a reality.

We were proud to have Rhett & Burke Lewis on set serving as our DPs, James Cawley served as the Visual Effects Director, Russ Adams was the Exec. Producer and Director, and David Adamic returned, as TLD’s sound tech.  For more on the cast and crew visit our official TLD site.

Auditions were held in Ogden, Utah & Salt Lake City, Utah on Sept 5, 12 2009. The auditions were hosted by Kaffe Mercantile in Ogden, and The Academy of the Performing Arts in SLC.  We saw many talented individuals during both auditions, but had to limit our choices to five. Check them out on our official TLD site.

We will be meeting at 2688 Washington Blvd in Ogden, from 10am-3pm on May 30th for Utah's first ZOMBIE CAR WASH! You can either stay for the whole thing, or cut out when you need to, but the point is to be there! The funds we raise will go toward the film, The Light of Daigh. It will be used for things like Craft Services, Paying the Cast and Crew, etc.

Zombies will roam about drawing in cars for the car wash. You can bring as many people as you like, the more the better. Bring your own victim, attack them! Eat them! Just make sure to have their permission first. LOL

We can't afford to supply makeup, the cost would negate the point of the car wash, so zombies should come out ready to FEED!

There are a number of place to eat with a block so you should also bring some money with you for lunch. The local businesses will appreciate it. We talked about having a BBQ for the volunteers but Ogden City told us we would have to get a food handlers License which would have taken for ever.

Camera crews from Utah stations, channels 2, 4, 5, 13 were sent Press Releases regarding the car wash, as were the Standard Examiner, SLC Tribune, and smaller publications like SLUG MAG. You might end up with your 15 minutes of fame on Saturday. So make sure to be there, and ham it up for the cameras!

Ritual Pictures was notified that our short film project, OISIN, has been ACCEPTED into its first film festival. The Doorpost Film Project was our first submission to the festival circuit. It a hell of a way to start off. If this is any indication of OISIN's festival future, Ritual Pictures and the Film's Cast & Crew will be having a very good year.

Getting accepted into The Doorpost Film Project is a huge deal. We were select to be one of the 100 films to viewed in this years competition. We have a 10% chance to move onto round 2 where 10 filmmakers will receive $30,000 to produce a separate film  based upon a predetermined theme. This years theme is HOPE. If selected into the 2nd round, we have a 50% chance of placing.

Please help us move to Round 2 by going to The Doorpost Film Project, and voting for OISIN. Our category is FORGIVENESS. Thanks for all your support.

We reshoot the opening scene to OISIN, today. It was a very productive shoot, and it gave us the opportunity to correct a few issues that arose during the test screening. In addition, we were able to add new faces to the cast and crew. Unfortunately space doesn't allow me to name everyone involved, but they are mentioned on our Ritual Pictures Myspace blog.

We also met with a potential investor, who will remain nameless until the final details are worked out. The investor was interested in helping us produce our feature, MALICE.

March 11, 2009

A film festival programmer contacted us about our film. This was HUGE  for us. The programmer contacted us to let us know they really liked our submission OISIN. There were issues with the submission that need correcting. We were told we should consider correcting the issues, and resubmission at no additional cost. As I mentioned, this was huge news because programmers are very busy and often discard submission that don't meet the standards. They haven't the time to contact filmmakers to correct films--this one did. This was a good sign that our cast & crew created something worth the extra time.

I thanks the programmer many many times, and we were able to make the necessary changes and get the film back to them.
